Planning a fundraiser

The Calgary Food Bank is community owned and community supported, meaning that all of our donations come directly from generous community members like YOU! Hosting your own fundraiser is a great way to raise food and funds to help support the community and feed YYC. The possibilities are endless when it comes to holding your own event.

We can deliver donations supplies such as food donation boxes to collect non-perishable food items and/or cash donation boxes to collect donations of funds. We can pick-up the donations after the event is held. Please allow one or more business days for deliveries to be made.

The Food Bank can also provide volunteer representatives to accept donations at your event. Please provide two weeks minimum for this to be arranged. Event organizers can set up a personalized online donation page to collect monetary donations.

Step 4: (optional) Create a website

Bring your event, food drive or fundraiser to the next level by building your own Personal Fundraising Page. As the champion of your own page, you can run an online fundraising initiative by reaching out to friends, family and your online community.

  • Personal Pages to support an activity that you are participating in, to complement an event or milestone that you are celebrating, or simply to raise funds.
  • Tribute page In-Honour or In-Memory of a loved one.

Cooking competition

Channel your inner chef! Have a number of people cook a dish and charge a donation (food or funds) to taste each item. Have taste testers choose a winner for some friendly fun competition.

Instead of gifts, ask your friends and family for donations of food and funds. A great idea for kids is to ask for money in the amount of their age from their family or friends and donate half to the Food Bank.
“I knew I could make a difference by helping the food bank. I talked to my mom about it and did some research. I learned that the food bank can get more food with money than I can buying the food myself. I know (there are) families with special dietary needs so you often need to buy stuff. So I decided to collect toonies. Every kid has a toonie laying around. I decided it would be cool to try to raise $200 and that seemed like a reasonable amount to aim for. The total raised was $397.70.”
