On Saturday, November 16, 2019, Calgary Co-op and Calgary Transit joined forces for the annual Stuff A Bus campaign. Calgary Co-op store management and staff prepped the stores by building and displaying hundreds of $10 pre-packaged donation kits. On event day, Calgary Transit parked a bus outside of each Co-op location in Calgary. Volunteers from Calgary Transit and the Calgary Food Bank collected monetary and food donations in an effort to fill all 40 feet of the bus with healthy, nutritious food.
At the end of the day, dozens of Girl Guides and their friends swarmed the bus barn to unload thousands of pounds of food which was transported to the Calgary Food Bank to be distributed to Calgarians experiencing food insecurity.
Thanks to the generous spirit of Calgarians the 2019 campaign raised $302,540.58 in food and funds. Together, we fight hunger and its root causes because no one should go hungry.
